Dalmore Single Malt 12 Year 8 Yr. and a slight kiss ofThe 12 year whisky from this Northern Highlands distillery spends the first nine years of its maturation in American white oak ex bourbon casks, then is finished in Gonzalez Byass Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butts. Rich Sherry notes on nose, orange, cocoa, toasted almonds. Big in the mouth, with pretty spice notes, brown sugar, chocolate, and some concentrated citrus, like blood orange. A bit richer than its sherried cousin The Macallan. Good balance.
